This work comprises a contrastive study of the Phraseological Statements, more specifically the proverbs in the Spanish/Portuguese language pair of the novel La Familia de Pascual Duarte. The objectives focus on mapping the proverbs in source text and identifying in the target text the translator’s strategies for saying them again. For this purpose, the perspective of phraseological (re)enunciation by Ramos-Nogueira (2017) was adopted. From the mapping of these units in the work under analysis, a classification of traditionally known proverbs and those likely to correspond to an author’s creation was carried out. Subsequently, information was collected regarding the selected units. Throughout the work, a broad use of proverbial paremia was identified in order to support the hypothesis that paremias are important instruments of representation of orality and popular wisdom in the literary style of Camilo José Cela.
