From the noun to the intransitive verb:
a Nosotros Literaturamos Manifesto (on the challenges of 'learning to teach' Hispanic literature in the 21st century)
Keywords:
teaching literature, Hispanic literatures, literary mediation, Nosotros Literaturamos ManifestoAbstract
Taking into account the challenges of teaching Hispanic literature in the 21st century as an intellectual from the Latin American in-between place (SANTIAGO, 2000), this article initially problematizes our behavior towards the teaching of literature. By understanding literature as a space for exchanging silences (BAJOUR, 2020), a territory of the particular (ANDRUETTO, 2014) and a possibility for the social emancipation (CASTILLO, 2020) of its readers, it highlights the opportunity for literature to be experienced in formal teaching contexts not just as a pretext (SANTOS, 2007), but as a "suspension bridge" (VALLEJO, 2020) for expanding our own worlds. As a theoretical foundation, we value contributions related not only to the teaching of literature, but also to literacy and mediation. Finally, by taking literary fiction itself as an argument and the backbone of the argument, six reasons for literating are presented (XXXX, 2023) and constitute what is understood as the "Nosotros Literaturamos Manifesto".
